Dr. Cathleen Carr

carrcathleenDr. Cathleen V. Carr, JD, Msc.D,  is the founder and executive director of CertifiedCare.  Dr. Carr is a nationally recognized Elder Care Specialist in the areas of wills, trusts, probate, elder law, holistic health and wellness and Elder Caregiving. Her extensive background, with over 25 years of experience, covers many specialties including healthcare, law, business and non-profits. Her personal background and professional expertise helped to shape a certification program with the highest standards in the elder caregiving field.

Dr. Carr founded CertifiedCare in 2008 to offer caregivers a way to gain education and training in the area of elder caregiving in “at home” and assisted living institutional environments. She developed the first online curriculum and training program for assisted living companions that incorporate law, business, and alternative therapies, while complying with the American Medical Association (AMA) Guidelines for elder caregiving. Since the inception of CertifiedCare, Dr. Carr has worked with over 1,000 caregivers from all over the United States and abroad.

Dr. Carr is a published author on various topics including eldercare, natural health, law, and green living. She is a contributing author to: Examiner.com, Radientlife, Suite101.com, Alternative Health Review, National Diet Institute, BestNaturalHealthDirectory.com, Natural Medicine Ink (editor) and eHealthScience. She also is an herbalist and naturopathic practitioner, where she specializes in therapeutic herbalism and restorative vibrational therapies.

Prior to CertifiedCare, Dr. Carr was the creator and developer for PremierPropertyAds.com; Director at American Eastern Institute; Assistant Law Director/Assistant Prosecutor in the cities of Cleveland, East Cleveland and Brooklyn, Ohio; Special counsel to the Ohio Attorney General, an Instructor of Law at Chancellor University; Attorney in Private Practice, an Executive Board Member and Registered Lobbyist for the Ohio Historical Society; and a Planning Engineer at the Cuyahoga County Engineer’s Office.

Dr. Carr received her Ph.D in Metaphysical Science-Vibrational Medicine from the University of Sedona and her Masters Degree in Metaphysical Science-Sound Therapy from the University of Metaphysics. In addition, Dr. Carr has a Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University and her Bachelors degree (magna cum laude) in Communications and English with a minor in Business from Howard University.

Sydney Russell

Sydney RussellSydney Russell is the Administrative Director at CertifiedCare. Her diverse business background with specialties in marketing, public relations and customer service help CertifiedCare reach and listen to their target markets. Russell’s personable and business minded personality is the driving force behind her success.
Russell’s mother, Dr. Cathleen Carr, founded CertifiedCare in 2008 to offer caregivers a way to gain education and training in the area of elder caregiving in “at home” and assisted living institutional environments. Russell’s passion and knowledge made her a perfect addition to the CertifiedCare team. Looking towards the future for CertifiedCare, Russell’s international knowledge and experience will be a welcome addition to the global goals of the business.
Prior to her involvement with CertifiedCare, Russell held internships in China at the Jinling Hotel in Nanjing and in the UK for the Langham Hotel in London. She was also an office assistant at Purdue University Residence Halls, an event planning intern with Leppert Mortuary and Crematorium and a host/anchorwoman on the Morning Show on The Learning Network in North Carolina.
Russell is an active member of her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta where she holds the position of recording secretary and image chair. She is also a managerial accounting tutor at Purdue University.  Previously, Russell was the finance chair for the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality and a mentor for the University Residences Peer Mentor Program.
Russell is currently finishing her Bachelors of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana (expected May 2012).

Elizabeth Jayne Hickle

Betty HickleA native Clevelander, Elizabeth “Betty”  Hickle received her Masters in Public Administration in 1989 from Cleveland State University with a major in healthcare.  That same year, she sat for her license exam and received a nursing home Administrators license in October 1989.  She has served as Administrator for University Hospitals of Cleveland and MetroHealth Medical Center in the following healthcare service lines:  Pediatrics, OBGYN, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Endocrinology and Family Medicine.  Most recently she was the Administrative Director for the Solon Medical Campus, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center.  A 57,000 sq ft medical campus offering a full service Emergency Room, Radiology, Laboratory, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Medicine along with more than fifteen physician practices.  Starting December 2012 she will serve as Emergency Room Administrator for St. Vincent Charity Hospital System in Cleveland.

Elizabeth Hickle has recently served in the role of consultant for The Elisabeth Severance Prentiss Center providing management for this 140 bed nursing home facility.  She has also worked in the field home care services for individuals who are Developmentally Disabled in Lake County and Cuyahoga County.  Betty Hickle is currently a consultant with CertifiedCare of Cleveland, Ohio, working with Dr. Cathleen Carr.
